ياستاذى الغالى ساكون احد طلابك ولكن تحملنى شوى وانا كثير الاسئله
وعندى اقتراح بسيط واتمنا تطبيقه وهو ان تكتب الكلمه الانجليزيه بالانجليزى والعربى ثم يبين معنها بالعربي
مثل
no(نو)=لا

I aplogize for not being able to post Lessons 3 & 4. I will however do so tomorrow, Sunday, 9 March 2008. For those interested, it's going to be a structure lesson (making simple sentences and questions), so don't miss it

افتراضي الدرسين 3 & 4 - صياغة الأسئلة: Topic: Lessons 3 & 4 – Making Questions

Topic: Lessons 3 & 4 – Making Questions

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

.Today we are going to learn how to construct simple sentences using “verb to be” and how we can turn them into yes/no questions

.To start with, I would like you to carefully study the following sentences

.I am Abdulaziz
.I am a journalist
.I am Saudi
.I am 30 years old
.I am married

.He is Ibrahim
.He is a teacher. Ibrahim is a teacher
.He is Saudi
.He is 26 years old
.He is single

.She is Sarah
.She is a student. Sarah is a student
.She is Saudi
.She is 21 years old
.She is single

.It is Lassie
.It is my dog. Lassie is my dog
.It is 3 years old

.You are Saad
.You are a doctor
.You are Saudi
.You are 32 years old
.You are married

.You are Saad and Majed
.You are doctors
.You are Saudi
.You are 32 years old
.You are married

.We are Abdulrahman and Ahmad
.We are students
.We are Saudi
.We are 17 years old
.We are single

.They are Abdulrahman and Ahmad
.They are students. Abdulrahman and Ahmad are students
.They are Saudi
.They are 17 years old
.They are single

?What do you notice

”.Look at the word in blue. What is it? Yes, it is “am
”.Look at the word in green. What is it? Yes, it is “is
”.Look at the word in pink. What is it? Yes, it is “are

”.You may notice that “I” always comes before “am
”.You may also notice that “He, She, & It” always come before “is
”.You may also notice that “You, We, & They” always come before “are

.As you can also notice, all the sentences above start with: I, He, She, It, You, We, or They. These are called the subject

.)Rule 1: Every sentence in English must start with a subject (Please remember this information is for Level 1

).As you can also notice, all the subjects in the sentences above are followed by verb “to be” (am,is,are

.Rule 2: Every sentence in English must have a verb. At this stage, the verb we are working with is verb “to be”

Look carefully at the following questions and notice the words in color.

?Am I Abdulaziz
?Am I a journalist
?Am I Saudi
?Am I 30 years old
?Am I married

?Is he Ibrahim
?Is he a teacher? Is Ibrahim a teacher
?Is he Saudi
?Is he 26 years old
?Is he single

?Is she Sarah
? Is she a student? Is Sarah a student
? Is she Saudi
? Is she 21 years old
? Is she single

?Is it Lassie
?Is it my dog? Is Lassie my dog
?Is it 3 years old

?Are you Saad
?Are you a doctor
?Are you Saudi
?Are you 32 years old
?Are you married

?Are you Saad and Majed
?Are you doctors
?Are you Saudi
?Are you 32 years old
?Are you married

?Are we Abdulrahman and Ahmad
?Are we students
?Are we Saudi
?Are we 17 years old
?Are we single

?Are they Abdulrahman and Ahmad
?Are they students? Are Abdulrahman and Ahmad students
?Are they Saudi
?Are they 17 years old
?Are they single

?What do you notice

You may notice that all the questions start with the same verb “to be” that we use in sentences. But what???! Right! The verb is NOT after the subject. It is before the subject

The patterns below may help you understand the idea of making questions.

.He is Ibrahim
?Is he Ibrahim

.You are a doctor

?Are you a doctor

.They are single
?single ----------

.Now look at the following questions and answers

( .Am I a journalist? Yes, I am. (Yes, you are

.Is he Saudi? Yes, he is

.Is Sarah a student? No, she is not

.Is it my dog? No, it is not

.Are you 32 years old? No, I am not.

.Are we students? Yes, you are

.Are they single? No, they are not

?What do you notice

.)You may notice that answers must also have the same verb we use in questions. (Please remember this information is for Level 1

.We will stop here today and will continue this coming Tuesday, insha Allah

,Regards
