.Today we are going to learn how to construct simple sentences using “verb to be” and how we can turn them into yes/no questions
.To start with, I would like you to carefully study the following sentences
.I am Abdulaziz
.I am a journalist
.I am Saudi
.I am 30 years old

.He is Ibrahim
.He is a teacher. Ibrahim is a teacher

”.Look at the word in blue. What is it? Yes, it is “am
”.Look at the word in green. What is it? Yes, it is “is
”.Look at the word in pink. What is it? Yes, it is “are
”.You may notice that “I” always comes before “am
”.You may also notice that “He, She, & It” always come before “is
”.You may also notice that “You, We, & They” always come before “are
.As you can also notice, all the sentences above start with: I, He, She, It, You, We, or They. These are called the subject
.)Rule 1: Every sentence in English must start with a subject (Please remember this information is for Level 1
).As you can also notice, all the subjects in the sentences above are followed by verb “to be” (am,is,are
.Rule 2: Every sentence in English must have a verb. At this stage, the verb we are working with is verb “to be”
Look carefully at the following questions and notice the words in color.

You may notice that all the questions start with the same verb “to be” that we use in sentences. But what???! Right! The verb is NOT after the subject. It is before the subject
